Korea Artist Prize
올해의 작가상
A contemporary art prize run jointly by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and the SBS Foundation since 2012, which each year selects four artists or teams and supports their new work and an exhibition.
01About
The four selected are called sponsored artists, and each receives 50 million won to make new work for the exhibition. The final winner is not decided before the opening: a second round of judging by Korean and international jurors takes place during the exhibition, and the winner receives a further 10 million won. So most of what you see was made for this exhibition; and the four bodies of work can be compared with one another. Of the four in 2026, two work mainly in painting and two mainly in moving image.
