패션 사진

Photographs made for fashion magazines and brands: pictures of clothes, and of the people who wear them and the mood around them.

01About

In 1892 the French magazine La Mode Pratique became the first to print fashion photographs; advances in halftone printing in the 1900s made photographs practical in magazines. In 1913 Adolph de Meyer became Vogue's first full-time photographer. In 1936 Martin Munkácsi photographed models in motion on a beach, and Alexey Brodovitch brought the style to Harper's Bazaar; fashion pictures were no longer made only in the studio. In the 1970s the photographs of Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Deborah Turbeville stopped simply showing the clothes clearly and left behind a scene, and a mood.

Pick one photograph. Look at the clothes first, then at everything else: the light, the setting, the poses, and the distance between the people.
