Photo Ark is a project begun in 2006 by National Geographic Explorer and photographer Joel Sartore: he travels to zoos, aquariums and wildlife rescue centres around the world to make a portrait of each animal in their care, aiming to cover 25,000 species. This 20th-anniversary exhibition fills Huashan’s East 2C and 2D halls, organised by Mediasphere Communications and partners.

Open daily 10:00–18:00; ticket sales and entry stop at 17:30. Closed on Lunar New Year's Eve (5 February). A two-person ticket is validated only when both people enter together. When it is crowded, entry is controlled and visitors queue as staff direct. There are no lockers, and strollers and large luggage cannot be taken in.
