Loans

借用作品

A loan is when a collecting institution lends works from its collection to another institution's exhibition or display.

01About

A loan is a collecting institution lending works from its collection to another exhibition or display. The National Gallery in London says it lends paintings to public exhibitions in the UK and abroad, to widen access to its collection, increase knowledge of it and encourage cooperation at home and abroad. Tate says lending brings its collection to new audiences, supports distinctive exhibitions and public programmes, and builds exchange between museums and galleries. Lending follows a procedure. At the National Gallery, a borrower applies formally in writing and the Gallery checks its facilities and its ability to keep the works safe; once a loan is agreed, the contract, insurance or indemnity, transport, courier and display arrangements are put in place.
