Arumjigi

Korean original:

아름지기

Arumjigi is a non-profit cultural foundation that began in 2001 as volunteer work cleaning the royal palaces, with the aim of preserving traditional heritage and carrying it on in modern form. In June 2013 its secretariat moved from the Anguk-dong hanok to the Tongui-dong building at 17 Hyoja-ro: the ground floor is a gallery and floors two to four are offices, designed by Kim Jong-kyu (the modern building) and Kim Bong-ryeol (the hanok), who lifted a hanok and its courtyard onto the second floor above the exposed-concrete structure. Its recent curated exhibitions took dwelling (2024), food (2025) and clothing (2026) as themes; the clothing show, 치마, 겹 위에 펼쳐진 (Skirts, Unfolded in Layers), has run since August 27, 2026.
