01About
Ink painting uses no color, or only a light wash over the ink, known as ink and light color. How much water goes into the ink sets its tone; dark and pale ink layered and bleeding into each other can render light and shade, distance, and texture, while the speed of the brush leaves different kinds of line. The unpainted space in the picture is part of the composition too. Heo Baek-ryeon, Lee Sang-beom, and Byeon Gwan-sik, shown in the Coreana Museum of Art's Sansu / Landscape, are all modern Korean ink painters.

03Notes
Ink painting uses no colour; light, shade, and distance all come from the tone of the ink and the blank paper.
